Methodology & sources
Where the data comes from
We use reputable public sources: established business and news publications, official company websites, and broadcaster material. Wikipedia and community databases are used as leads, not as proof, and a pitch is never published on an encyclopedia source alone.
Verification levels
- Verified: at least two independent reliable sources agree.
- Partially verified: one reliable source, or only some fields confirmed.
- Sources conflict: reliable sources disagree. We show the best-supported value and keep looking.
- Unverified / unknown: not confirmed. Records like this stay unpublished.
Deal stages we keep apart
- Offer made: a shark proposed terms on air.
- Deal (on air): the founders accepted an offer on television.
- Reported closed: a published source says the investment was completed after due diligence.
- Reported not closed: a published source says it fell through.
- Closing not reported: we have not found a reliable report either way. This is the default.
- Unseen: the pitch was filmed but not shown on television.
Calculated figures
Implied valuation is calculated by PitchBase Global as cash ÷ equity share. It excludes debt and royalty terms, and it is not a statement of the company’s actual value. Totals on the site are counted from published records only.
Prices and purchase links
A price is shown only if we saw it on the seller’s page, and it carries the date we checked. Prices and stock change, so the seller’s page is always the final word.
Corrections
If something is wrong, please send a correction with a source. Founders can also contact us about their own company’s record.
